The project “Digital Literacy and Multimedia Journalism” sponsored by the US Embassy took place from April 15 to November 15, 2022.
The main goal of the project was to develop students’ skills in fact-checking and creating multimedia journalistic products.
In April 2022, the administration of schools of journalism of the four universities involved in the project (GIPA, CU, UG, and IBSU) selected three students each to undergo internships at the Media Development Fund (MDF), in particular, at the fund’s “Laboratory of Myths” project. The first orientation meeting with the interns was held in MDF on May 11, 2022. After that, students worked remotely from home. Their work process was coordinated by MDF fact-checkers.
Finally, 8 analytical materials were published on the website of the Laboratory of Myths. Out of these, 3 materials revealed disinformation and 5 materials revealed manipulation.
